Position Overview

Reporting to the campground's General Manager, The Maintenance & Safety Team Lead is responsible for just that - maintenance and safety, and for the supervision of members of the Maintenance & Safety Team.  It is a critical responsibility of each member of our Maintenance & Safety Team to ensure that our properties are safe for our guests to enjoy.  Our team members follow regularly scheduled safety inspections and repairs, while always keeping an eye out for potential hazards, before they become actual hazards.  Your responsibilities will include ensuring that everything on-site works like a well-oiled machine, including the utilities we provide to our guests, the equipment and resources our team relies on to service our guests, and the appearance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds.  Challenges may include repairing or replacing aging infrastructure, guest-damaged or weather-damaged property, the need to make mechanical repairs to equipment, unclogging toilets, etc.  Our properties should always be sparkling clean and appear in like-new condition.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • At the direction of our campground's General Manager, lead and supervise the activities of our Maintenance & Safety Team Members.
  • Perform basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs, painting, staining, power washing, maintenance to campground buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds as directed by the campground's General Manager.
  • Implement daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and cleaning programs as instituted by the General Manager.  Depending on your properties amenities this may include regular cleaning and maintenance of the swimming pool and spa, lawn mowing, weed eating, landscaping, garbage pick-up, propane pumping, laundry servicing, and various other campground equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure that all guests and team members are provided with a safe environment at all times.
  • Comply with all company, federal, state and local safety programs by adhering to established guidelines in the operation and storage of various equipment, tools, and chemicals with an emphasis on your personal safety, as well as that of fellow team members and campground guests.
  • Always greet guests with a smile.
  • Always maintain a well-groomed appearance, a proper uniform and name tag.
  • Provide superior guest service by being attentive, responsive and helpful to guests' needs.
  • Report all guest problems, requests or complaints to the General Manager.

Experience & Requirements

  • A passion for customer service and the outdoors.
  • Experience as a team leader or supervisor.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing equipment and installation.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical properties, proper handling, storage and usage.
  • Basic knowledge of propane and gasoline dispensing.
  • Familiarity with landscaping and the safe operation of landscaping equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, lift and carry 25 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds regularly.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance frequently.
  • Long periods of standing.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch and climb.
  • Must be able to operate various loud and vibrating maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Requires the use of hands and fingers to feel and handle objects.
  • Able to travel by auto.
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors and in various weather conditions.
  • Capable of moving safely over uneven or wet terrain.
